The PMD 620 Basic rebuilds the PMD 620 mic preamp with a very low noise, high slew rate op amp that dramatically enhances detail and clarity while lowering noise and audible distortions. This upgrade also increases the mic input gain by 6dB in order to record lower signal levels without using the ALC circuit. All features remain intact.

This upgrade also improves the line input circuit. The built in mics are removed to maximize microphone input quality, all other features remain intact. Concert MOD parts are selected by ear to optimize the PMD 620 for recording music.

These samples are recorded with the DPA 4060's on a dummy head and the MPS6030 Power Supply.
The traffic sounds are from a road a bit over 1 mile away.
The mics for the ambient sounds are placed on my rear deck, about 150 feet from the woods.
The wind chimes/drum sample was made indoors with the same mics from a 6 foot distance.

These measurements use small signal levels that represent realistic mic output signal levels. Measurements at higher signal levels or worse, without the signal level specified may not accurately reflect real world conditions or results. When listening to the sample files above, the ear will detect a very open, detailed and natural sounding 3D soundfield !
